I have a very old RouterBoard 532 and it’s running code 2.94 (or is that 2.97, I can’t remember) How can I upgrade this to a latest version supported ? I tried comp and paste the latest versions but it still rebooted with the original version. I then tried version 3.0 and still no joy.
I know it is possible because I have another 532 unit I found running 5.20. I just don’t know how I got it up to 5.20 !!!
Last supported version is 6.32.4. If I remember well. Since then the mipsle architecture support is dropped. I would make netinstall of this version and then the license should be updated as it becomes invalid most probably. It can be done easily by button from winbox. Save the old license to a file before to have a backup if anything happens and be prepared to netinstall the version you are currently running.
There was suggested somewhere to go over the 4.x something to update the license meantime. But I have read somewhere that the license can be updated in contemporary versions also so it might not be necessary to use the intermediate step. Google a bit about if you would like to be more confident. But anyway it can bring whatever problem so be ready to netinstall back and better to have working serial cable by hand. Don’t forget to update the routerboot firmware finally. Good luck.
