upgrading rb-941-2nd-tc bios (factory firmware/backup os)

I upgraded the router to the latest stable version 6.46.5 with netinstall (had to run under win7 compatibility mode in windows 10) and I’m trying to update the “current firmware” 6.42.1 to 6.43.7 (https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:RouterBOARD_settings https://box.mikrotik.com/f/313edb5d0e2f479b8aba/?dl=1)

I’ve read “Protected RouterBOOT” thread
http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/protected-routerboot/85672/1
and rextened post
http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/protected-routerboot/85672/1

  1. Do I need to downgrade to 6.43.x or to an older version?
    https://mikrotik.com/download/archive
    https://download.mikrotik.com/routeros/6.43.16/routeros-smips-6.43.16.npk
    and run
    /system package downgrade

  2. Do i need to upload via ftp or web gui interface the .fwf found in rextended post
    qca9531L (3.41 http://i.mt.lv/routerboard/files/qca9531L_3.41.fwf) and run
    /system routerboard upgrade /system reboot
even if the cpu QCA9533 https://mikrotik.com/product/RB941-2nD-TC differs? I didn’t find one for its cpu

I tired uploading only the 6.43.7 from 6.45.6 and running
/system routerboard uprade /system reboot
current firmware still at 6.42.1

I am not really sure what you are trying to do…
You say you ve upgraded to 6.45.6 …
So the question is, you want to downgrade to an earlier version or you want to upgrade to the latest vesrion ?

Yesterday I was able to upgrade the bios. The protected routerboot thread was a bit confusing so I’m writing what I did:
I ran latest stable netinstall of 6.45.6 (stable channel) under win 7 compatibility settings in windows 10 and checked the “apply default config” box

From terminal I ran

/system print

It shows

Factory firmware 6.42.1

it can be upgraded to 6.43.7 as per https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:RouterBOARD_settings
Which can be found at https://box.mikrotik.com/f/313edb5d0e2f479b8aba/?dl=1 for my device(smips)
Then I uploaded via the files menu the 6.43.7 stable version found at https://mikrotik.com/download/archive
From terminal I ran

/system package downgrade

then when router rebooted ran

/system routerboard upgrade /system reboot

Now device is at 6.43.7. Then, I uploaded via the files menu the universal 6.43.7 bootloader file and ran again

/system routerboard upgrade /system reboot

now when i run

/system print

it shows

Current firmware 6.43.7

Now leds blink in a different way at boot and when going into netboot mode (need to press the reset button when router is booting up and leds need to blink for 10 seconds, then release the reset button)
