Uploaded wrong SWOS for switch

I have a 260GS that I seem to have bricked by uploading the 250GS SWOS update to it.

Is there anything that can be done to reverse the damage?

Symptoms:
I power it on and the five port lights blink on and then off about 1 second later and never come back on, even though ports 1 and 4 are plugged in. I’ve tried resettting it per http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/SwOS#Reset but it continues to exhibit the same behavior where the port lights do not stay lit.
No network traffic flows through it right now.

It is time to replace this 260gs with a new one and call this a “lesson learned” or is there some hope?

SwOS firmware upload and installation using BOOTP can recover RB250/RB260 if they have had wrong firmware installed.

Hi becs,

I tried that:

/ip tftp print
Flags: X - disabled

IP-ADDRESSES REAL-FILENAME ALLOW READ-ONLY ALLOW-ROLLOVER HITS

0 192.168.40.29 swos-rb260-1.13.lzb yes yes no 0

Since I already have a DHCP server, I just need to assign an unused IP address to the TFTP server, upload file, and try re-flashing the switch, correct?

Correct, just make sure DHCP server has bootp-support=dynamic

I’m still trying this again.

So I have a 750UP with a default configuration, I uploaded the swos-rb260-1.13.lzb file, and I’m still trying to get the 260GS to connect to the boot server.

When the switch is plugged in, none of the network lights come on. Is it too late to try saving this switch?

I’ve included some images.
