UPnP / NAT-PMP question

I deal with network devices that require UPnP and/or NAT-PMP.. Audio streaming devices. They require a lot of stuff and many are just **** on a network.

SO I HAVE to deal with UPnP.. I also have to deal with QoS and AES67/Dante/Ravenna/PTP.. But thats a different subject.. Networking for post production audio and video is challenging, hahahaha..

I enable UPnP and set the internal and external interfaces. Internal is a bridge.

I am currently on 7.16.rc1 as i need to QoS and PTP stuff.

As a test to isolate things, I setup a VERY simple setup. A NATed network, no firewall for test, and enabled UPnP with a internal and external network..

Initially this works great.. I see the Mikrotik UPnP entries.. But then after like 15 mins, they are gone.. This seems a bit confuzing to me..

Seperatly… It seemed to make sense to also run NAT-PMP… These can coexist ? The UPnP issue above occurs even if I do not run NAT-PMP.. I have not tested out NAT-PMP fully yet..

The issue of the UPnP service just seeming to die after some time may be specific to a specific model/s. It seems to be working on a CRS309-1G-8S+ and a CCR2004-1G-12S+2XS.. But it does not stay working on a CCR2116-12G-4S+..

It might also be something on the network that is somehow killing the service..

I am investigating further..

While I realize UPnP is a huge mess, this is pretty specific and seems reproducable..

I have now tested the same config copy pasted into 4 different routers. It all works and is stable, exacpt for the CCR2116-12G-4S+..

The CCR2116-12G-4S+ with nothing but one PC connected looks as tho the UPnP service fails anywhere from 3 mins-10 mins. 7.16RC1.. I have not yet tried older firmware.

So just a NAT with bridged ports, allowed everything on the firewall / raw. The same config on other routers works fine. No failed service..

To me this looks like the UPnP service fails.

I can restart it by disabling/enabling. It will then run up to 10 mins and fail again.

I guess I will submit a ticket :frowning:

The CCR2116-12G-4S+ does QoS and PTP, so, this is the platform I need. So kinda frustrating.. I keep looking for something I did wrong. ANy suggestions would be great.

Upgrade the ccr2116 to the latest beta version,
generate a supout.rif while working, and another when broken.
(Assuming it’s not fixed)

And submit them in the ticket.
Support are quite good, and it is one of their flagship products you are having issues with…

All of the above is on 7.16rc1, the current beta.

That was my plan.

I wont be able to until monday tho.

I want to do a netinstall to be certain the unit is fully wiped. Then verify the issue again. do supouts before and after..

Nothing shows up in the log, FYI.

I am still thinking I must be doing something stupid, but, this is pretty basic. The service seems to just fail.
