I have recently started using a couple routers with the UPS package connected to compatible APC UPS devices. The data all seems to be there. What is confusing me is the “Off Line Time” and “Min Run Time” settings. The manual does not really clarify exactly what I am setting.
What I want is for the router to never hibernate. I’d like it to get powered down at the end of the UPS battery and come back up when the UPS gets grid power again.
I can’t change “Off Line Time” to “0”. When I kill power to the UPS, I see the “Offline after” timer start to tick down from 5 minutes (the default). That tells me the router will hibernate in 5 minutes. If my UPS runtime is 3 hours, do I just set Off Line Time to something greater than 3 hours as well as the Min Run Time?
I kind of figured they would read the data from the UPS and when the UPS hit 5 minutes of time left, they would hibernate but my testing seems to show it just starts counting down immediately.
And what exactly is Min Run Time = never?
