UPS problem

Hy i want to connect my ups to the RB450 G routerboard, but is no link between them.
UPS: Inform Guard (LCD series)
First i tryed with an standard cable, then with the folowing confinguration

None doesen’t work… help me ? :frowning:

Did you read the first sentence of the UPS section of Mikrotik manual? (“The UPS monitor feature works with APC UPS units that support “smart” signaling over serial RS232 or USB connection”)

Didn’t think that Inform Guard uses APC Smart signalling protocol? I think that is your problem?

There are other ways.
UPS - http://tandem.ck.ua/ups_mt-eng.php
UPS-monitor - http://tandem.ck.ua/ups_mtm-eng.php
Examples of scripts - http://tandem.ck.ua/prg/scripts.txt

You can use this solution for power backup feature. It’s cheaper and smaller.

This decision is bad:

  1. Insufficient charge the battery.
  2. Deep discharge batteries. Small life of the battery.
  3. No monitoring.

Hi,

we use Mean Well Buffer Power Supply AD-55B 24V 2A

Link: http://www.meanwelldirect.co.uk/product/AD-55B/AD-55B/default.htm

2x 12V 7,2Ah Accu. A Relais on 230V side, go the AC down the Relais fall, too. The Contact from Relais bridge Pin 2 and 3 on a free ethernetport at the Routerboard. So we see via SMNP ethernet up = Normal or ethernetport down = Accu works.

What you mean “Insufficient charge the battery”? It charge in standbay mode with ~13,8V power like most lead acid battery and it’s close to 90% charged all the time.
About monitoring - RB450G have voltage monitor and you can see is it on battery or on AC
Of course RB under voltage threshold is too low for 12V battery but this solution is only for few hours power outage. Do you attend for example APC seminar, there is many interesting regarding power problem and power outage research.
I have few 100Base-T networks where each swich have that power backup solution and provide 12h usage without AC power.

In our solutions, and the UPS battery is far from the RB-411 (433).
From 10 to 80 m.
For this case, your solution does not fit.
There can be no voltage 13,8 V on the battery.
Such inclusion of the battery, I think not correct.
Sorry.

But we talk about RB450G. Basically this solution work with any RB powering via Jack.
