Hi ates, I?m struggling trying to have the work, I’m looking hours trying everything.
I’m sorry to say I can’t find a really specific and careful guide, all look simple and quick but in reality seems many oteher thing to do, for example opening the UDP connections to firewall, but there are also certificate problems I guess. Why so complicated? Struggling..
I have 3 rb941-2nd at 6.49 long term, one is “master” connected by eth2 to main router, eth3 to second 941, eth4 to third 941.
Capsman works on master DRSMB, the others are only MB, on Remote CAP I see 127.0.0.1 registered (and working), the others are MAC (I see the SSID TX at proper channels but without SSID names), why?
I copied all from a config of working CAPS but seems something I’m missing, I don’t understand.
I still trying, I’ve made firewall accepting everything possible, no results. For a whil it gores to MBI but then go to MB, seems timeout. What can be wrong? i’m desperated with these CAPSMAN!!
I still have problems, remote CAPS go to SMB, not running, and on the Remote CAP I see the MAC address instead of IP addresses, I’m not 100% sure but I think when it’s working I see here the IP address! Sometime it was working, I believe the problems with these f* certificates (( (which I don’t need, but with no certificates I don’t have it run)
Certificates are not necessary for the CAPsMAN setup at all. The certificate-based authentication between CAPs and CAPsMAN is switched off by default.
A wireless interface (no matter whether controlled locally or by CAPsMAN) only shows Running if at least one client is registered with it.
I had lot of difficulties to set CAPSMAN, they went registered and after couple of seconds not more, I can’t say now if it was a problem with firewall (I enabled UDP incoming packets from CAPs (on CAPSMAN) and CAPSMAN (on CAPS), or with the config tabs which weren’t fllled as I supposed they were (and should be, but I needed to select again config setting), or mismatch with certificates. Cetificates are the most difficult part to understand, as a Miktotik policy/way specific, I could only guess and try. In the end I’ve now in every CAPS and CAPSMAN a certificate signature, but I’m not using them, in particular on Manager I grayed out certificates fields, and not set to auto as a guide suggested me to do. I don’t know if they are important to have, but when they were empty I’ve never had it working, I don’t know.
the letters on CAP interface should be SBM (or SB for slave SSIDs) for remote CAPs, and DSBM for the wireless CAP created on CAPSMAN device, at least this working for me. Yes R only means someone is connected
