maybe it’s too hot outside? Or you didn’t eat the right lunch. It could be a trillion things.
from 1 month m finding answer for this & now as my users are increasing speed is getting lower.
anyway thanks for the rules
Well with 100mbit uplink, between 200 users = 0.5mbit/s per user… The math just makes sense ![]()
I think you need to upgrade your network capacity if you want to achieve better speeds. 200 users @ 20mbps needs a 4gbps uplink according to my math.
Is the Core router doing all the PPPoE assigning? Or is it individual routers in set areas? and if so how is each one getting there bandwidth? Unless you are splitting up the load and using Gig-E or fiber your network just doesn’t have the ability to pass that much traffic. care to explain a bit more on how your network is set up?
thanks thevilmnky & savage for your reply
I understood what you mean to say so i tried this.
I have a gigabyte lan card on my server, I disconnected all users except my pc & i started download i was getting around maximum 2 mbps & when i connect through pptp i get 10mbps
is it normal?
I think mikrotik pppoe don’t have the ability to pass that much traffic, I have tried on another linux pppoe server & I was getting 10mbps constant speed.
1- What kind of service you sell Wifi? Cable? Adsl? other? (each medium has it’s limits)
2- Do you have the amount of bandwidth necessary for sell that kind of plans? at least 3Gbps for 1200 clients using fine tuned QoS and many other techniques.
3- Your Mikrotik Core Router must be a very powerfull Server (I mean very, a Xeon Opteron multicore last gen )
or your network must be balanced over multiple MT routers less powerfull.
4-if you can not get that kind of speed connected to your switch your final clients never had too.
5-Every part of the chain can be the problem.
6.If your service is Wifi based may be thats the problem.
I was hoping for a solution…
one question from my side do you run a mikrotik pppoe network & do you get atleast 5mbps download speed? if yes which version & on which server you are running?
Thanks for your reply
asus
currently m using 2.9 if i update to 3.24 with 6 giga port (200 active session per port) on a quad core server with 4gb ram, so 1200 users can get up to 10mbps?
please reply.
