Urgent Problems with Wireless Setup

Hi,

We are a new WISP in the UK and are trying to test RouterOS 3.1 prior to committing to Mikrotik.

I have installed 3.1 on a Compaq EVO - Intel P4, 60GB IDE Drive, 512mb RAM.

The WiFi card is an EnGenius (Senao) Dual Band High Power Atheros 6G Mini PCI Adapter, connected to the motherboard via an Engenius EPI 1900 mini PCI to PCI adapter (Dual Antena).

The PCI adpater then plugs into another “adpater” in the compaq that then plugs into the motherboard.

RouterOS appears to have intalled the Atheros Driver but I simply cannot get the interface to run.

I have tried this via Winbox and also via the command line directly on the router itself (using the instructions given in the on-line manual for v2.9). The system then simply reports that the Interface is not running.

Please can somebody give me a) a Step by Step guide to install and configuring the wifi card and also b) known problems.

ANy help would be great as I really need to test this before committing to pruchasing either the software or hardware.

P.S. Why cant I set up the Web Proxy service in the system to test that (demo key installed).

Just to clear things up, you mean that, when you check the interface, the card does not show “R” (running)? If that is the case, it may be that nobody is connected to the wireless net. Mine shows neither running or disabled when nobody is on the wireless system. As soon as I connect, it shows running.

If this is not the case for you, be a little more specific about the symptoms.
