USB boot fails on HP DL120 G6

  1. Trying to boot from USB stick on HP DL160 server.
After “Loading system with initrd” it writes something like:
“Could not find disk. Try to insert it somewhere else”

This stick boots on every other PC or laptop, but there is a problem with server.

  1. Even tried to use Plop Boot Manager - it does not see usb device. It helped me once to boot ROS on very old server without usb boot support.

But this time I’ve failed :frowning:

  1. Made a drive bootable via netinstall, it boots with syslinux and don’t find disk again.

  2. Tried to netinstall via PXE - it founds disk, but the software-id is changed, and I didn’t installed it. But I think it don’t help.

Maybe some other methods exists? Thinking about external PCI-E USB controller, but the slot is busy by network card..
I could install ROS on a hard drive, but I’ve already have L6 licence on this USB stick…

Have you the latest bios ??
Have you tried to change the bios settings for the disc io like ata/pata/sata ??

Updating BIOS helped!
