USB CD DRIVE

Greetings.

i have tried to install MT thru USB External CD DRIVE, and i seems MT installation is not supported!
after LILO boot and once the setup started it says “no cd found!”

so any idea about this?

Thank you.

yes, usb drives are not supported. use netinstall

Well thanks for that instant reply.

using netinstall could be a solution, but the idea is.
i dont want to use any local drives, floopy drive or a fixed cd room as well.

thanks again.

why do you have to use any removable drives at all? if your hardware can boot from ethernet, you don’t even need a floppy - only a ethernet cable and a netinstall computer. if your hardware can not boot from ethernet, try to install RouterOS on a drive that is attached to the netinstall computer and then move the drive to your router.

well i can have an IDE cd drive also, so i attache it to the system once i want to install RouterOS and then i can remove it again to use it with another system

Thanks

as i suggested above, you do not need a CD or Floppy to install RouterOS - just an ethernet cable and the netinstall program

but in the documentation says that the rs-232 cable must be connected? how to do it without that? and then whats the floppy it will make? to boot installer machine?
