I have been trying to get the USB port on a new 411 UAHR board working. I can’t see it under the ports only the serial port is there. I have updated to 4.9.
I have seen that the port is un-powered in the specs. Ok no problem I have tried using a powered hub between my air card and the RB. That don’t work either. In fact it don’t see anything not even a USB memory stick.
Just in case you are wondering yes I have done this very same set up with the same equipment on a 411U and it works.
Can someone tell me if the port is just bad on the board I have or if Mikrotik has released a board that does not work?
Thanks
Not real sure about System/Devices. I have version 4.9 installed and don’t have that. The best I can do is below. But to answer no I do not see the port anywhere. However THANKS for the reply no one else has tried to help.
oops i meant System/Resource and not Device
What is this air card that you are using?
Can you plug the device into the 411U and do a show system resource usb and port print and paste info here.
What the…?!? Why in gods name would you do something like that?
What sane person would put an unpowered USB hub on a router so people have to use an injector to actually use it??
Are there any massive technical reasons for using an unpowered hub or did you guys just put that in there because you want to sell addon usb cables and power adapters?
It worked in the 411U and in the 433UAH - why is it different here?
I’m sorry if that sounded a little bit harsh - but I really am surprised to say the least… I have never seen something as useless as an unpowered USB hub on a router…
We use dozens of RB433UAHs out there and love it because the USB stuff just works - why do you lay stones in the way of customers with the 411 UAHR
It really blows my mind…
This could have been such a nice all-in-one solution for a portable umts router…
3G attached with USB, wireless already built-in…
now you have to lug around a second power adapter for usb?
I made my Verizon air card work on a 411UAHR board. I did not have the power injector as show above but using a 7805 and a few caps you can build a filtered 5 volt supply and just solder the 5 VDC output to pin 1 on the RB 411UAHR USB plug. That way you do not have a bunch of extra crap to plug in. The USB pin 4 ground is tied to the ground plane on the PCB already. You will need to put a heat sink on the 7805. I have added a fan to cool the radios and everything because I use the unit in my truck.
I wanted to have 2 radios was why I went to the UAHR. IF you only need one just use a 411U and you don’t have to do anything but plug your 3G card in and set it up.
I am planning on building a mobile network that can use WIFI when avalable and dial out 3G when not and repeat everything out the other radio for a mobile hotspot.
BS85 if this is not what you were looking for let me know. Setting up the Air card is not hard but I have had help from a friend.
normis thanks for your input. I had tried everything but that becaues I didn’t want to let the smoke out of something.
Do you think it is a power sence issue?
IE the hub looks for incomming power before it powers up the “slave device” (device connected to the hub)
I have contimplating on a LONG haul USB tranciever / power injector (I havent had any sleep.. Just keep comming up with ideas !!! remote reset, lightning isolation etc…)
I have a client that needs remote 3G over USB… (Std trancievers dont provide enough power for 3G devices over any distance)… Sound familiar ??
