USB not recognizing UPS connected to it

Good morning!

I’ve connected a Salicru SPS SOHO+ 1000VA vía an USB-Type B to a USB-Type A cable (In a RB951Ui-2HnD) to test if I could get data from it, because we really would need this feature in our network. I’ve installed also the UPS extra package from 6.33 version, but it doesn’t work.

I’ve tried the Salicru in my Ubuntu Desktop and installing NUT (http://www.networkupstools.org/) worked great. I noticed that I needed some drivers called “blazer_usb”.

When trying to select a “port” in /system/ups no one appears, maybe that’s the problem.

How can I solve it? If it’s no problem of Mikrotik (because it has not been implemented yet), how could I get it done using the router’s USB port?

Thank you

Blazer support was requested a long time ago:
http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/ups/30014/1
But still only the APC SmartUPS protocol is supported.
But actually nobody cares since except getting information on the router web interface/winbox and getting some beeps, there is no other functionality to it.
Better setup NUT on a server and have fun. At least you can get remote monitoring, graphing via collectd, remote workstation clients for windows and linux etc. (your imagination is the limit)

Thank you for your kind help, docmarius.

Do you think that if I get the source code of the driver and send it to MikroTik, would they implement it?

If not, thank you for your suggestion. We are thinking of RPi’s but even that would be a little pricey, because we would need 40+. I have searched for Arduino drivers implementations but I haven’t found them.

Thank you a lot!

Hello,

Are Salicru UPS working in Mikrotik?

Regards.

I’ve got a Salicru SPS 650 Home and it’s connected to a Mikrotik device over USB. It’s detected as a UPS and appears to work (after installing the UPS package). The Mikrotik only reads the Model number (no version/serial number/date/nominal battery voltage). For the status it reads the Run Time Left/Offline After/Battery Charge/Output Voltage/Load/Frequency/On Line. Slightly strangely when I cut the power it no longer lists the UPS as “On Line” but it doesn’t list it at “On Battery”.

The other fields are blank, I don’t know about the error conditions as the battery doesn’t need replacing at the moment.

Generally I’m pretty happy with it, I’m not pulling much load on the UPS (25%) and it’s run time calculations are a little off, but otherwise it seems fine. The Mikrotik UPS package is a little flakey (WebFig shows the wrong offline-time) but it works well enough.
