USB power

can I power up SXT Lite5 or SXT 5HPnD through my laptop USB output? If so, what cable should i use? I tested with one of my USB (male-to-male) cable, and no luck, the device keeps powering up and off instantly after a second.

No. It requires 8-30v, typically around 20v for smooth operation. Usb gives only 5v.

Try only when you are sure that it will work. I think you must use a power adapter, rather then using a power adapter.

No.

says “yes” for USB powering on SXT series product, so I just thought, it is possible for USB power input, but I guess now it is intended for USB power output(to power such as 3G USB modem)?

I would say so.

USB can for many things used example, 3and 4G modems, storage, ether interfaces, serial interface, but not for power up a sxt
USB output is 5 volt.

USB power in this case means that SXT can be used for 3G modems which require 5V power on the USB port. Some older RouterBOARD models needed special USB powering injector to power up modems. So this means “USB power out” not “power in”
