Hi,
Is there any workaround to add USB storage to rb4011(wifi) in order to use container?(assuming no modding on hardware’s allowed)
Since rb4011 doesn’t have a USB slot, is it possible to use other mikrotik devices with usb slot on the lan and mount rb4011 containers on their (remote) usb? Specifically hap ac in this case.
Is there any conversion device that allows connecting a usb flash/hd to rb4011 ethernet ports?
Well, there is this guy who tried using the unpopulated mPCIe slot for a ssd. Don’t know how it turned out or if i would try it myself…
[edit]
Just saw, you were talking about the wifi version, so your mPCIe slot will be populated. Then there should be the option to sacrifice the 2.4G wifi for a ssd.
Thanks.
I was hoping that it was possible to mount a usb flash on another device on lan and use it on rb4011.
It’s been odd to me that rb4011 sporting a fairly powerful hw lacks usb port and now it’s disappointing to know there’s no workaround for it either.
I would set up a base Linux container and then do a NFS Mount and work with that NFS storage. If deploying several containers then You would need to do this for every container. Not ideal if you’re using pre-built appliance containers but if you’re compiling the containers yourself then NFS could be added to the dockerfile in theory?

Yes. Especially regarding the fact the RB4011 SoC features a USB3.0 controller. Still for some reason MikroTik decided not to add a USB port for RB4011. Combined with two rather poor switch chips.
If you do not need WiFi, the RB5009 (provided you are able to find one) is the RB4011 done right: Even a bit more CPU power, USB 3.0 port, and a pretty decent switch chip.
