hi guys, how to use mikrotik CCR1036-8G-2S as Switch?
You could put the ports in a bridge, but note that the 1036 does not have a switch chip, so everything is done by the CPU.
Starting from blank configuration, create a bridge and add all the interfaces as ports.
But using CCR1036 as a switch is like using a VW caravelle to plow a field.
Thanks, which mikrotik used as Switch on CCR1036-8G-2S for 900 clients connected by hotspot.?
Switches come with model names starting with CRS (these are running ROS, some are dual-boot between ROS and SwOS) or CSS (these are running SwitchOS).
thank you the brothers
For example price difference between these CRS CSS is $50 US:
https://mikrotik.com/product/CSS326-24G-2SplusRM $159.00
https://mikrotik.com/product/CRS326-24G-2SplusRM $209.00
As switches their performance is very similar due to common chips.
SwOS is easier to use but less capable and enjoys less MikroTik love.
I went CRS326 and RouterOS even though it’s steeper learning curve.
IMO the added RouterOS functional capability is well worth the effort.
