Use of V+V or H+H antenna in mimo setup for 1x1 clients

Anybody has any experience in the setup of AP that has to similar polarized antennas (2xV-pol or 2xH-pol) as AP where clients will be either H or V polarized (depending on AP setup) single chain (Groove) antenna.

I am thinking of using two 30dBi mesh antennas close to each-other connected to a dual chain mimo card to create a spread of only 15 degree coverage over 15km distance where clients will be small mesh antenna with single chain mimo (Groove).

Normal sectors are giving to wide a coverage and thus too little gain to reach these remote houses.
H+V setup means I can only cover a 6-8 degree sector which is just a bit too little.

I’ve done it with two omni, one above the AP, one below.

Works pretty well, kind of neat to see 110% ccq.

oldman, can u post a pic of ur setup.
i tried it and messed up. can u give specs of card n board too. thanks

There isn’t anything fancy to my setup.

Two n-male omni, one is mounted directly to the top of the case, one is mounted directly to the bottom of the case. Standard AP bridge, both chains enabled, AES encryption.

Dual polarity clients don’t get dual chain speeds unless they’re really close, but single chain, single polarity clients work fine.

r those 15 dbi omni or just a 8 or 10 dbi. whts the spacing between omni’s? can i have two 15 dbi omni’s (one V omni & other H omni) mounted side to side with dual pol mini pci’s. if so how far should i place them.
also what if i mount two V omni’s side to side?

Don’t forget to ask if both omni’s should have the same color. :frowning:

I used one 12dBi on top and one 9dBi on the bottom. I have another AP with a 15dBi and a 10dBi with horizontal separation that doesn’t work well. I’d recommend against it.
