Use RB as a Switch?

I inherited a Routerboard 564 with Routerboard 532A installed, giving me a total of 9 Ethernet ports (interfaces). I am trying to configure the unit as a home router and I’m replacing a cheapo wireless router that has the usual 4-port switch built in, and in fact I have 4 physical Ethernet connections I need to connect. Can I use 4 of the Ethernet ports on the RB as a switch for my internal 192.168.0.x network, or do I have to put everything on one port and use an outboard switch? Thanks.

Create a bridge. Add the ethernet ports to the bridge that you want as a switch group.

Not a true layer 2 hardware switch (it uses CPU) but it should work fine for your needs.

Yes as Tom says you need to create a bridge because the RB532 does not support the Ethernet switch feature.

Or else sell it and buy a RB450.
