User "Group" question

I have installed User Manager, configured and used the local RADIUS server - configured per the documentation.

When I create a User in User Manager can I use one of my two Hotspot User Profiles and assign it to the user?

For example, I have two pre-defined profiles in

/ip hotspot user profile

and each one defines different rate limits.

If I type the name of the profile into the Group field will the profile be used?

Thanks,
Scott

Short answer : yes
But not if you use PPP profile for PPPoE server …
I start another thread for this … PPP profile for PPPoE server

Thanks. No, I am not using PPP profile. I am using ‘hotspot’ profile for RADIUS.

I am also trying to do the same, but whenever I enter the user profile that i have created in winbox in the ‘group’ field and then try to login using that user ,nothing happens. It also doesn’t give any error…does the user profile have to be linked to the User manager in some way?

Using UM 4.6 with ROS 4.6 on RB1000

I dont know how you using group … for me : I have userman with local radius , hotspot and PPPOE server on same interface … and when I create user (in usermanager) and asign him group let say 1M everxything working fine … userman know to read user profiles and find 1M profile , which is limited to 128k/1M and simple queues is created. Same thing for user 3M .
Only problem is that userman dont know to read PPP - profiles and always asign default speed for pppoe users.
