User Manager Questions

Hi there

I have a few questions on UM:

  1. How do you reset the total upload/download figures for a user. I’ve deleted the user sessions, but this does not help? I have users with for example a xGB limit/month. After the month I need to reset these counters.

  2. Are there a way to automatically reset the above mentioned counters every month?

  3. I’m running user manager on the AP where the clients connect? Its a RB433AH. How quick does the HD space fill up with UM information? And also, how many CPU does UM require? I assume I can fit a microSD card for additional storage space? The AP routerboard has twin XR5’s with 120deg sectors…

  4. Are there any better options than MikroTik User Manager?

Would appreciate any advice.

Thx

It is possible with script and/or scheduler to reset counters after each month. You can run ‘tool user-manager user reset-counters’ or use Web-interface to reset counters.

It depends on the configuration. But HDD space should be filled up extremely fast. It is fine to run User Manager with one CPU. Currently you cannot save User MAnager on external drives, but it will possible in the future.

Thanks for the reply.

Where in the web interface do I reset the counters?

Are there any other way I can get more storage space on the RB433AH? If not, whats the other options? To run user manager on a separate machine on the network? How do I setup user manager on a windows machine?

Thx

You cannot setup User Manager on Windows.
User Manager is working only within RouterOS.
RouterOS can run on x86 boxes.

You can find reset-counters in Users menu, inside the “Edit” button.

Great, thanks. Any other alternatives to user manager that works well with RouterOS?
