I have User-Manager working on an RB532 running OS 2-9.51, authenticating and accounting two RADIUS servers also running on 532s also with OS 2.9.x.
I have been trying for several days to have backup accounting on two other machines, one a 532 and the other a x86 server, and have completely failed - the servers are not even logging accounting attempts.
They’re all on the same network and I cannot find any configuration faults. The only difference between the machine U-M works on and those it doesn’t are that the latter are both running v3.
Is there any incompatibility between the RADIUS servers on an OS 2-9 machine and User-Manager with v3?
I suspect you have scripts to backup your userdatabase and import it to the other router. If that is the case, remember that only usernames, passwords, comments, shaping info, private info, IP’s, IP Pools etc will be exported/imported. Your clients’ actual usage will not be exported.
I have been battling with a similar problem. My solution is to have a script which runs through all the users and saving that info in a CSV-like file. But the problem is that you can’t set a user’s usage, you can only reset it to defaults. It is a bit of a problem, but it seems Mikrotik programmers are spending way more time on the Hotspot functionality of UM and not the ISP side.
Apparently there are many updates on the newest UM, but it’s still in BETA in not available for download yet.
I agree totally. With infinite regret I’m ditching User-Manager and having to look at buying Radius Manager for the functionality User-Manager could and should provide, and probably would provide if the documentation on it was even half-way decent enough to allow for comprehension of its inner workings.
But as with everything else in the Mikrotik world the documentation lets down a good product.
