Userman and Hotspot on the same device

  1. I’m a noob
  2. I’m testing Mikrotik and RouterOS because it seems awesome and full of excellent features.
  3. I’m using the latest release with usermanager
  4. I’ve read a ton of posts and wikis but seem to be confused still so I’m looking for some help.

I have a RB411 MikroPoynt device.
Ether1 plugged into my existing linksys router/dns/gateway.
Linksys Gateway IP: 192.168.1.254 Ether1: 192.168.1.250
Wlan1 on RB411 IP: 192.168.0.1/24 with hotspot service setup.
All wifi clients receive an IP on the 192.168.0.X subnet.
Other info:
wlan 1 SSID: hotspot
hotspot user: default admin user with no password
I followed this article for the most part: http://mikrotik4u.blogspot.com/2008/08/setting-up-basic-mikrotik-hotspot.html
And used 127.0.0.1 for radius and userman, and even tried setting it up differently like this article says:
http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/using-hotspot-um-from-same-pc/20617/2

The problem:
I can’t figure out how Userman gets used? It is installed and I could access it very easily through: 192.168.1.250/userman
Maybe I’m missing the concept of it all, but I thought that once someone accesses the wireless through my ssid=hotspot that they are taken to the userman page (not the hotspot page) to login and check their account or simply use the internet?
That’s the first part I would like to accomplish - sorry if it’s an easy fix, but I can’t figure out with all the wikis and posts out there since many of them contradict the other.

Once I get that part fixed, I’d like to setup userman for users to be able to self-register. Is that even possible?
And pay for service via paypal, which I’ve read about.

Any pointers or thorough tutorials would be excellent.
Thank you!

So I finally got the hotspot working where users, created in the user manager, can login through the hotspot.
I’m still trying to figure out how to allow users to create their own profiles and pay for internet access like a true hotspot - all automated.
Also, existing hotspot users cannot login to the user man by going to the ip/userman, not sure if it’s supposed to be that way, but I thought it was so that users could see their usage and buy more credits.
Any help would be great, but like usual I will slowly figure it out. :open_mouth: :frowning: :astonished:

Clients can login by “router ip”/user to check usage and buy credits.Client must use login and password as they got from user-manager.
