Using a Custom UserName with Radius and User Manager

Hi,

I’ve got two MKT routers RB4011iGS+5HacQ2HnD-IN, RBD52G-5HacD2HnD-TC serving thress ssid’s.

The two routers are connected using an ethernet cable. Each ssid, has it’s own VLAN.

I trying to buid the following :

Home_IOT vlan 100 for all my IOT devices. I would like to use MKT Radius and user manager for AAA and vlan assigment.
Home_Guests vlan 10 for all my quests vlan assign automatically by the wap.
Home vlan 20 for all my home personal devices. I would like to use MKT Radius and user manager for AAA and vlan assigment.

Some home users namely me, can connect to all SSId’s. all other users can only connect to one ssid.

I’ve already build all of this using MKT AX devices, to accomplish this I’ve created in user manager for each user username with MAC Address:SSID and in the AAA defininition I’ve set username to have the same format.

The only drawback that I’ve identified with this approach, is that I may need to duplicate, user manager users if they need to use 2 or more SSID’s.

So far, only one user has this requirement.

For the wifi 5 I’ve mention, I’m still using the wireless package, I haven’t found a way to define a custom format for the mac address.


I’ve tried installing the new wave2 package, it allows me to implement my username requirement but it has severe issues that doesn’t yet allow me to use it. On RB4011iGS+5HacQ2HnD-IN after upgrade the 5GHZ radio no longer works, on the RBD52G-5HacD2HnD-TC after upgrade VLAN assigment no longer works.

Is there any different approach i can use to accomplish my requirement ?

Hi,

To simplify the question, I have multiple SSID’s I want to have a single radius server an a single user manager to manage authentication.

Ideally i would like to define users per SSID.

A user may have access to all SSID or only to one.

Any suggestion on how to accomplish this ?
