Hello, i recently started working for a company that has a MikroTik router and a few MikroTik switches, and I was wondering if it’s possible to manage the switches (assign vlans and the sorts) from the router interface giving me a one-stop-shop for network management.
I’ve worked with other routers in the past that had this ability, and I could not find any material on this in the documentation for this router.
thanks and have a great day!
Not that I am aware of, a function called capsman is for controlling several APs but nothing for switches.
One can see all their devices on a network through winbox.
I am sure there are others here who have mulitiple switches and have sorted away to manage them efficiently hopefully one will stop by with some sage advice.
when you say “see” you mean just find them on the network and display their details, not manage.
if that’s the case I don’t see a reason to keep this old router, and not upgrade to something a bit more robust.
If ability to manage downstream switches from “master router” is vital to you, then yes, you’ll have to switch network gear vendor. Be prepared for “enhanced” gear prices.
