I have tested using Dude as the screen saver on XP and Windows. The XP machine is a client attaching to the Dude Server running on Windows 2003. The Windows 2003 server is attaching to itself (Local).
To implement, copy dude.exe to %systemroot%\system32 (typically c:\windows\system32). Rename this version from dude.exe to dude.scr. Dude will now show as an available screen saver.
I have not found a way to open maximized but I did stretch the window to the size of the screen. I had difficuly getting dude to open with just the local map but after setting screens and closing, it finally has settled on opening the local map, which is the only map I have have at the moment in my test environment.
This has worked both with and without passwords and various accounts (admin, guest, etc).
Now I am looking for a way to have dude open to a panel …
