Using hAP lite router for AP

Hey there!

I’ve just set up my hAP lite after some mild difficulty trying to upgrade the firmware, but now I would like to adjust the settings for my particular use case. (Forgive me for my ignorance towards the accurate/technical language here, very new to networking setups).

I would like to use the hAP lite as purely a Router(?), with zero WiFi features enabled. Just to pass on an ethernet connection to my Netgear Orbi.

My purpose here is just to use some of the Queuing features on the Mikrotik, and then the Orbi would ideally handle very little other than the WiFi signal. I have the Orbi set up in AP mode, and the hAP lite is currently at default settings after updating to the 7.1 beta 4 firmware.

It’s actually functioning perfectly fine at the moment, but I have yet to dive into the settings for queuing and I figured that I should probably have the hAP lite configured correctly before I begin as I’d hate to muck something up and be forced to reset my settings.

Is there a particular setting for this that I should be looking at here? My current assumption is that my Orbi (given that it is already in AP mode), is already “set up” as I need it. Now, I just have to disable the WiFi radio on the hAP lite and then I’m done as far as this part of the config is concerned?

Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

  1. Disable Wifi
Connect to your Router and execute this Code in the Terminal
/interface disable [find where type=wlan]
  1. Configuration
Mikrotik Device have a “Default Config”
If you didn’t change anything and added a Password to your admin-user , your Router is “secure”.

You may want to add Firewall Rules to protect or limit Client-2-Internet communication (vice-versa).
