Using map2n micro usb as ether3

Hi,

I have a map2n router setup with a local web server connected to ether2 and external internet connected to ether1, and both interfaces connected to bridge-local. This allows for a user to connect to the AP and browse the local web server effectively, and also allows for the server to get internet through ether1.
have a usb-to-ethernet adapter connected to the micro-usb port, and I am attempting to allow connections on this port to access the local server, like is possible over wifi. I get given an IP address from the router, and the device is listed as connected on the web config, but neither party can ping the other.

Is there anything obvious I’m missing? Is something else required to get this port working as another ethernet port, other than just adding the device to the local bridge?

Thanks,
Phill

From some more experimentation today, I can see that if I have a device connected to the ether3 interface when the access point boots, then the port is more likely to work. Sometimes, ether3 does not even appear on the web interface if I restart the access point without a device connected (although I don’t even get given an IP in this case).
This leads me to believe that the AP runs some setup (that I can’t see) if a device is connected on boot, that it doesn’t run otherwise.
