Using Mikrotik with ISP's router in bridge mode

Hello all,

A MikroTik beginner here

I have purchased a RB2011UiAS with RouterOS v6.48.4.

I have done intial configuration and made it work with the ISP’s router in normal mode.

The ISP’s router is connected to MikroTik’s LAN 1.

Everything works, it gives out IP adresses (DHCP works) and all is fine, internet works on all devices connected to MikroTik.

Now i would like to set the ISP’s router in bridge mode so that all traffic goes through MikroTik.

When I set the ISP’s router in bridge mode and don’t change any settings on MikroTik, the internet stops working.

I assume that is expected behaviour and means that the ISP’s router was really set in bridge mode and now some alterations have to be made in RouterOS?

What do I have to do in MikroTik’s configuration to restore internet functionality?

I have tried searching and googling thinking it is a pretty common question, but all I get are results about setting MikroTik in bridge mode
(it’s not the same as configuring for another router in bridge mode, is it?)

Thanks for any guidance or links to some tutorials/articles about the issue

Remove ether1 from bridge.
Put ISP information into IP DHCP CLIENT
etc…

best bet is to give it at ry and then post your config
/export hide-sensitive file=anynameyouwish

Thanks for the reply, that was it!

Somehow ether1 ended up in bridge.

Removed it from there and everything works fine!

Thank you

My hero, your Crystal Ball outperforms mine…

You might want to have checked your configuration… /export hide-sensitive file=anynameyoulike

None needed I just created a new nick, to ask the question to make me look smart. I was tired of mKx always getting it right.
I wanted to see what it felt like, but I concur never hurts to look at the config if not for errors but for efficiencies.

Looking forward to you guys being as effective in the next issue I have
