I am new to MT, and would appreciate the community’s assistance in configuring my device.
Setup:
- 1G Fiber connection from ISP, with SFP module
- ISP requires PPPoE authentication
- ISP provides me a static IP
- I’m using Google Nest Wifi Pro 6E in a mesh configuration
Problem:
Google Nest is VERY bad with PPPoE. So when using a SFP->Ethernet adapter & Nets’s built-in PPPoE authentication, I get dismal performance.
I want to use a MT device with built-in SFP port (which I have laying around) to perform PPPoE, and offload this from Nest. I want to avoid a double-NAT situation.
Proposed Solution:
This is where I need your help 
Google Nest Wifi supports both DHCP and Static IP as alternatives to PPPoE on its WAN interface.
Ideally, I would want the Nest’s WAN interface to use my public IP, while using MT as a PPPoE dialer & transparent bridge or “proxy” of sorts. I don’t know how to achieve this or if it’s even possible.
I’d appreciate any advice on how to approach / solve this issue with such a configuration, or an alternative configuration that would give me the same practical result - i.e. offloading PPPoE from Nest router and avoiding double NAT.
