Well, I want to know which is the serial port of a (for example) RB951Ui-2HnD. I’ve opened it and saw that there’s an UART port, and an E-JTAG port. I want to connect it to an USB type-B connector (the UPS connector).
I would like to know what would I need physically in order to connect the MikroTik via serial port to the USB type-B connector. which connector, which cable schema.. etc.
Sorry I’m a bit lost and I can’t find info on this (maybe I’m not searching correctly). I will highly appreciate your help!
Okay I will use a Cloud Core Router CCR-1009-8G-1S that has a RS232 port. But my question is… how can I connect it to an USB type B port? I think I need a conversor because RS232 is 12V and USB is 5V.
It’s not about conversion of voltage but about totally different communication protocol. You cannot take usb side of ups and connect it to serial port of mikrotik. Only when the ups is capable to use usb to serial converter and communicate over serial port emulated by the usb converter for it. But I doubt that such ups exists. Easier to get ups with snmp.
The thing is that we have Salicru SPS SOHO+ in all our base stations, and they only have an USB-TypeB connector.
I asked them, and they sent me the Serial driver protocol. But I don’t know how to translate this “serial world” to a MikroTik’s USB port and the USB-TypeB connector of the Salicru UPS.
