V3.3 stalls eth0 on RB133's

Hi.

Is there a known problem or is this just me.. Since upgrading to V3.3, I have experienced problems with RB133 type. (4 units in all)

Radio Fine, but whether the units are Bridged or Routed, after a while the Ethernet seems to stall.

Anyone else with this problem?

Still no answers from anyone.

But so more info.. The RB133 suffers the problem shorty after a power outage. Almost as though it doesnt reboot properly.

When this occurs I am still able to access it via its radio, but no longer by winbox… I am unable to ping it either.

I can only gain access by using mac-telnet from the next router along the link. (it forms part of a backbone)

The interfaces all seem fine and “registered”.

But like I say, it no longer passes internet traffic.

This morning after a minute power failure, it had to be re-booted 3 times before it once again became stable.

This has only started after installing v3.3…

Previously it had v.2.91… Maybe i should put that back in!
:frowning:

I don’t run new ROS on any of my old RouterBoards. I keep My RB100 and RB500 boards at 2.9.51 and they just keep working.

2.9.51 is stable and I don’t need the new features from ROS 3.

Tom

yeah, good point Tom.. Lessons to be learnt.. I guess the rb133 is a bit old in the tooth and I bet not much pre-testing was done using v3.3.

Now I have the daunting task of trying to downgrade to 2.9.51 without loosing any settings (else I will be unable to connect wireless and then need personal access, which needs prior booking)

Hi

I has same problem. But i found solution for this situation. But i don’t know, will it be solution for your problem. I use my RB133C as CPE. I just update it from ROS 2.9.51 to 3.30, after 3.30 up to 4.0rc1 with following npk. (dhcp, routering, system and wireless)

Reason your RB133’s hungs (power outage) is not enough memory (when it counts to 2300kB free memory, it’s reboots)

Use only those npk u need.

I think u will not lose any settings on upgrade, but if im wrong, u can go to File and make a backup, then download it from RB to your PC and store them into save place.
