v5 licensing

i was just wondering

  • when current was v3 - L3&4 were stated as allowing upgrades until +1 major version (upto V4).
  • when current was v4 - +1 major version was “presented” to all - like v4 was not a major version, (so - everyone with L3-4-5 could upgrade until V5, and L6 until V6)

now current stable version is (at least stated) V5. still, licensing page states old info, as like current is v4.

at the moment i’m quite happy on 4.11, but i need a couple of new installs. so, the question is - should i buy V4 lic, or V5 lic (V5 does not look as stable yet, sorry guys), or should i just wait another couple of months ?

licensing is to do with level lisance of the board not version of the board

someboard versions like 133c and 133 are limited due to the fact that the board is old and thay are working it out so users will buy new hardware

so lets say you have a 411 routeboard (L4 by defualt) on Ros v5 it can be upgraded by defualt

or downgraded up to the user

no, xezen. all devices, including old RB133 are allowed to upgrade to v5 for free. If their old licenses tell you they can’t, you can override that with Netinstall.

and to the original poster - even if the page still says v4 is current, license will be upgradable +1 or +2 versions like it’s supposed to be

are you saying, if i have a couple of old RB230 with old L4 V2xxx licenses, that have their license “upgradable until year 2006” - i can upgrade them to v3.30 ?

why 3.30? upgrade them to v5. yes, you can do that, free of charge. use Netinstall to do this

yes upgrade them all to V5 V5 rocks

many new options to play with

How can we upgrade multiple existing CPE using Netinstall? We cannot physically access them!

We’ve upgraded a number of 112’s and 133’s from 2.9.51 to ROS 5.0 going from 2.9.51 to 3.30, update licence, upgrade to 4.16 then up to 5.0 without issues, It just takes a while as when they hit ROS 4.16 they run slow as mud

How well do you find 112 and 133s cope with v.5?

We found the same problem in 4.1xx, although we have a RB133c3 working with 5 and it seems fine, but I think this has more RAM

all my 133 and 133c boards are still running v2.9
