V6.42rc6 Cant send email

We have a script that does a backup everyday and then is suppose to email it to me. It worked for years but i was looking through my email last week and noticed i haven’t gotten a backup since September 2017. I can see in the files sections that my backup completes just fine. Its just not emailing me. All my emails settings are right. I have also tried using yahoo and gmail just to see if it was our email server. None have worked.
I get this error every time: error sending e-mail <test 1248> timeout occurred

Any ideas. I can see online others have had this issue but i never see a fix.

Bit difficult really. Sounds like you have no connectivity to whatever mail server.
Have you tried pinging it from a router Terminal?
Have you tried sending a test mail from the /tool e-mail command?

well u know i dont think i ever tested that from router
but you are right
i cant ping my mail server from mikrotik but can ping other addresses outside of network just fine
but i can ping my mail server from a pc behind the mikrotik just fine

any ideas on what might be stopping it?
