v7.16 [stable] breaks USB LTE Modem

Hi All
I upgraded my RB3011 from RouterOS 7.15.3 to RouterOS 7.16. I noticed that my LTE USB modem is shown as inactive in /interface/lte
About the modem: I use a Waveshare M.2 board with a Quectel RM500 attached to it.
The Modem is being recognized. Here is the output from system/resource/usb/print
Columns: DEVICE, VENDOR, NAME, SPEED

DEVICE VENDOR NAME SPEED

0 1-0 Linux 5.6.3 xhci-hcd xHCI Host Controller 480
1 2-0 Linux 5.6.3 xhci-hcd xHCI Host Controller 5000
2 2-1 Quectel RM500U-CNV 5000

What I tried so far:

  1. Unplug the Modem, remove the LTE interface, plug the modem back in. Again the modem is recognized under /system/resource/usb but no new LTE Interface is being added.
  2. In /system/logging I enabled debug, but I see nothing about errors regarding lte interfaces.
  3. I tried upgrading to RouterOS 7.17beta2 and on this version the modem is working again without issues.

Given that upgrading to RouterOS 7.17beta2 fixes the issue it seems that there might be a bug in 7.16?
