Hello, new to the forum, just wanted to share my experience with ROS 7.22.2 and CRS310-8G-2S-IN and the issue with dual boot.
Just received today two CRS310-8G-2S-IN to add to other MT devices, to setup a lab to learn more. I have in use a hAP ax2, a hEX and a cAP ac. Also have a hAP Lite and another cAP ac to use in the lab.
TL;DR: ROS 7.22.2 will not dual boot correctly with SwOS 2.18 in the CRS310-8G-2S-IN.
Decided to find out about the features of the CRS310, specifically the dual boot, started reading the user manual and the Marvel Prestera switch chip features documents and decided to update ROS and SwOS to latest version. At first used the offline method of uploading to Files the ROS and SwOS files downloaded from the product page, rebooted the switch, and configured the dual boot but when rebooting to SwOS the switch wouldn’t respond at all, didn’t initialize the ports (no LEDs), etc. Pressed the Reset button for 3 secs while powering on and it booted ok to backup SwOS. Direct boot, nothing. While in backup SwOS upgraded with the local file, same results rebooting.
At first I though it was because of the manual upgrade. Decided to connect the switch to the Internet, it didn’t find any upgrades, both ROS and SwOS were at lastest.
Then I found this post: Can't change a CRS309-1G-8S+IN to SwOS
Decided to downgrade ROS to test, and chose Long Term in Webfig and installed 7.21.4, setting up everything again for dual boot. This time it worked flawlessly, it booted direct to SwOS. Rebooted to ROS and updated to 7.22.2 again, same issue with the dual boot.
For clarification, I did every step necessary for upgrade/downgrade: install ROS, reboot, install same version FW, reboot, etc, etc.
The 2nd switch went direct for Long Term 7.21.4, setup everything and dual booted with no issue.
So, there you have it: ROS 7.22.2 does not dual boot correctly with SwOS 2.18 in the CRS310-8G-2S-IN.
I have not tried a lower version of SwOS, if you wish I can test it.
Other than this particular issue, killer switch, this dual boot is an awesome feature!
Regards.
