Version 4.1 DHCP issues

We just upgraded our RB433AH to 4.1. This router is used to serve remote VPN connections from our laptops. DNS, DHCP are handled by other servers on our LAN.

After upgrading, the RB433 started taking requests for DHCP and seemingly DNS also. Needless to say our LAN ground to a halt. I have removed the DHCP package and disabled the wireless packages. But when I connect the router to our LAN the existing DHCP server gets usurped or seems to.

I have seen reference to one person with what sounds like similar issues downgrading to 3.30 which seems to solve his issues.

any help would be appreciated.

Also something strange, when I connect the router to a test network the only IP address I can set on a client machine is the IP that the third ethernet port on the router. This port has not been assigned an interface. The client says all other IP addresses I try to set are being used.
