Very basic question of frequency selection

Until now I believed that the frequency of AP (omnitik) and their clients (SXT) should be the same, for example 5600.

A few days ago I saw a client that was configured by error on another frequency that the other clients/AP, and was properly registered and worked fine. So I got the question:

Should be AP and clients on the same frequency, or may be one frecuency for the AP and another one for clients?
If can be at different frequencies, are there any performance issue or another problem?

Thanks

They must have the same frequency. If the client is set to wrong frequency, it will automatically change it to the right one according to AP with the same SSID. See the wireless interface’s status of the client or command: /interface wireless monitor numbers=0

I think he means specific channel rather than band.

If the AP is set to 5600 and the client is in station mode, without any modification, in the same 5GHz band the station will seek out the AP.

If you are using AP w/WDS, both have to be on the same channel.

Both are in 5Ghz. Until now, I believed that was needed that AP and station should be in the same frecuency (frecuency field with same value), and if i want to change AP and station frecuency, I should to change all stations and ap frecuency field manually.

So, now understand that station look for AP automatically and set the AP frecuency, so, the station frecuency value is always ignored
Is correct?

Yes. If you want to specify a channel or list of channels use the “scan list” below the wireless frequency drop down menu.

You can set it to scan one channel or a group, as in 5600 or 5300-5825.

Thank you very much for your help
