very very new to mikrotik... please help..

Hey guys,

I m a newbie in mikrotik but I really want to learn how to use it properly.

So my current situation is that I m helping a friend with his house network installation. All the cat5e cables have been routed to each room in the house and all of those cables (7 of them) originated from the basement. Now I have 3 options to do this, either get a branded wireless router with gigabit ports (Linksys E1700 maybe?) and couple that with a RB750GL or 2x RB750GL or 1xCRS112-8G-4S-IN ? All of which, all rooms will have wireless access points connected to the cable.

Any thoughts?

It is work for a switch if you do not have other requirements. Whatever cheap dumb switch will be good.

From what you said, I agree with jarda. Do you need some Dial-Up to an ISP?

Yeah, but from the modem, it has to be at least L3 switch or a router isn’t?

You did not mention a modem till now. What´s this modem? Is it already a kind of router with DHCP server? Do you have to dial up by PPPoE? Tell more on your WAN connection.

Hmm ok this modem will be just a FO modem (i m not sure it needs to be dialed to PPPoE).. The ISP will only give him a modem .. and the ISP is our national telephone company (their previous products are based on ADSL).They offer a complete package (home telephone, internet, TV) and from what I know, they only give a box for all those services.
