Video Streaming with Mikrotik

Dear all,

Can anyone tell me how to do a video streaming over wireless using mikrotik ?

We have a 30 km link between two locations. We want to implement wireless survailence at one point and want to have the outputs at the other end. We have atleast 8 cameras at the location, so we need the solution which provides simulteniously 8 channel video streaming via wireless.

The throughput of the link is approx. 20 Mbps

I would like to try same
Did you finish your project and can you tell me which equipment did you use

Thanks

Best regards

Most converters or IP recorders will provide streaming capability. We have a customer that streams 10 of 16 cameras on a 3mbps connection.
The cameras are standard cctv (non IP) cameras and the recorder does the conversion and streaming.

Erik

Thank you for your answer
Can you tell me ,normally If you now which equipment they using

Another company did the camera work so I don’t know what they used for the recorder. The camera’s were nothing special, you $100-$200 basic cctv solid state cameras. All were true video and none were ip base. Thy were streaming about 10 of the 16 camera’s on a 3mbps connection and were very happy as they use to be able to do only one (rather poorly) on there satellite connection. Google security cameras and you will find packages from a few thousand dollars and up. We are looking at doing a higher end system our selves for a customer but it is just in the discussion stages so no equipment has been picked out. Sorry I can’t provide you with any more details.

Erik

Look at this link, http://www.zoneminder.com

We are running 4 full colour cctv cameras and monitoring from a remote site about 20km’s away. The software can support analog and IP cameras and have many features

Well, its been a while since the last post, but…

Its rather simple. You can either use a PC based DVR ( Digital Video Recorder) or stand alone DVR that can connect to your network. Most stand alone dvr’s have the option with the software that comes with it to not only remotley view the video, but to record it remotley. Ihavn’t found a PC based DVR that can record remotley, or even on a network share, but I harldey look at them anymore.

THe next part, set up your wireless link, and there you have it, spying on the employees.

When using ip cameras, the cameras can be anywhere in the world and zoneminder will record from them.
zoneminder is a PC based solution… Linux based…

Ahh Hemmm…

We are getting a little off topic now…
My appologies in advance.

Erik, Which company are you working for?
