But… perhaps “View Count” should make a return in the main “list views”. It is useful metric to know when “scanning” the list of latest/other posts.

Do you mean the categories view? Because the view count does show in all other lists, if you are not using “compact” view.
It wasn’t the theme… But takes 1300px wide browser window to see, as turns out..
Why I thought it wasn’t working on latest, since I’d see it elsewhere… must have used different windows/something…
