VLAN question

I am fairly new to Mikrotik routers and although everything works very well I just cannot get my head around how Vlans work. I have worked with Vlans on Draytek and Netgear routers and it’s straight forwards, but this just doesn’t make any sense to me

I am using an RB1100 for this example, however also have RB750s and RB2011s that will require similar configuration once I know what is going on

I currently have port 1 for uplink to a Cisco 2911 provided by our ISP. Ports 3, 4 and 5 are for internal network with port 3 as master. From each of these ports there are a wireless backhaul links leading to multiple switches and further wireless links. Outside of the router everything is OK, but I just can’t get vlans working in a way that everything works together

What I am aiming for is for a vlan to each of the remote wireless nodes. This is to allow management of traffic based on the physical location of where it is coming from

For example on port 3 I might have a 3 wireless bridged in sequence and would require a vlan for each. Each receiving access point would be on a separate vlan, so port3 would be carrying vlan 1,2 and 3, with 3 separate devices attached to each vlan. All traffic entering the router has to be untagged and connect through to the internet on port1

I have tried simplifying this to just creating a vlan interface and plug a laptop directly into the port with vlan tag enabled. I got to a point where i could access the router, however not the internet

Is someone able to provide instructions for set up so I can see where I’m going wrong. Thanks
