Hello,
I came accross this realy strange thing which even forced me to register. What I need is to make a “direct” connection between my Linux server and UBNT box - one /29 net aside their regular ones. Linux box is connected to RB951G-2HnD, UBNT to RB750G, both running RouterOS 6.10. I made a VLAN on UBNT and 750G and put VLAN in a bridge (ARP enabled, no changes in MTU), assigned IP address and ping works. 951 and 750 are already interconnected with vlan (num. 600) so I just tried to create a “vlan inside vlan” (num 666) and bridged this to the vlan going to UBNT. On 951, vlan 600 ends on a bridge (all five ports are bridged) so I created a vlan bridge.600.666, put it in a bridge and assigned IP address. At this point, all three interconnected devices were able to ping each other. On the user vlan (700, on the main bridge device) I created another vlan 666 and put it in the bridge. So far everything worked. Than I created “vlan in vlan” on my Linux box and assigned IP address. What happens:
- Linux is able to ping RB951 anytime
- Linux is not able to ping RB750 nor UBNT
- If I switch on “torch” on any device which is running (eg. bridge with no members), Linux starts pinging all the boxes, collects ARP info etc. When I switch it off, only packets to RB951 pass through..ARP records are obviously still stored in Linux box.
I tried changing MTU, changing MAC address of the bridge, changing ARP to proxy-arp, but (except of running Torch) nothing helped. I do not think that running torch all the time.
I run winbox in wine and during my experiments following output was writen on console:
WindowManager::init end
startServices
startServices done
