I have tried running MT in both VMware and Microsoft virtual server.

While it performs better in VMware, it still does not perform well.

CPU usage jumps between 50 and 80% wile my host OS sits at 80 to 100% while mikrotik is running with a heavy load.

It performs fine with very minimal load.

Does anyone have any advice or ideas?

I have a feeling it is because the virtual tools are not installed on the MT, as I see simular behavior with other guest OS’s without the tools installed.

Any plans to add support for VMware and / or MVS tools, etc ?

Current hardware on my test system -

1GB RAM
2.6GHz CPU
Host OS Windows 2003 server.

Installed Guest OS’s:
Mikrotik

Try telling vmware that mikrotik is 64bit guest. It will then present a intel 1000 NIC driver with better performance. See if that helps - and reply back, I’m curious if it helps with cpu usage.

I was going to try that in hopes it would help, but I’m not running a 64bit host OS so I cant tell it that the guest is 64bit.
