Hi Support,
We are running a small ISP, we have BGP connection to upstream provider and have our own /22 public IPs.
We have received a few complaints from our customers that if they are using our connection, their VOIP acts strangely.
If they’ve configured elastix or any other sip server, internally it works fine. But from outside their extensions only register and work using the softphones. If they place any D-Link, yealink or fanvil IP Phones, those extensions don’t work.
We as an ISP are using Mikrotik CCR and customer end we also supply mikrotik HAP routers.
After reading through past forums, we have tried disabling the default IP/FIREWALL/SERVICE PORT/SIP but still only softphones work. We have even tried configuring the Public static IPs on the elastix server, that means not even behind a router, but same results.
Question I have is, can my upstream provider with whom I have BGP connection block SIP ports? If they’ve blocked, then why softphones are registering and working fine?
Please help.
Hi,
if your can dismiss your router’s firewalling / NATing, you’ll need a SIP trace from your customers.
