VoIP Problem MT3.0b8

Basically I’m running MT3.0b8 due to its better support of Sata drives compared to 2.9. Everything went smoothly up until one of my customers call in to complain about his VoIP phone no longer worked correctly. You can pickup the phone and dial out correctly, and it functions well, but when you try to call into the phone it rings and then doesn’t transfer any voice data after that.

It worked fine in 2.9, but now doesn’t.

Here is what I know, the phone use 5060-5061 UDP and 10000-20000 UDP, and is using the sip protocol, its a Polycom phone using Aptela. I know that I didn’t change much in the routers configuration between 2.9 to 3.0, but from what I read how MT3.0b8 handles sip is quite different then 2.9.

Anyone know what I’m doing wrong? Or rather what I can do to fix this?

EDIT:
It might not use sip, not to sure. :open_mouth:

it is the sip helper!!!

disable it and you will get it fixed.
Don’t upgrade to beta9 because the sip helper functionality copuld crash the server.

And thanks for a quick reply.

I lost two night on this issue when I tried to install a new core boased on b8!
So it is a pleasure to post my experience.

Just tried it, doesn’t seem to help the issue I’m having, any other thoughts?

The Polycom phones are SIP, unless it is an older one running… MGCP?

Torch says that it is trying to connect using Sip, so I’m fairly sure its that.

my issue was about sip helper. in face using it the rtp stream went from the clients to sip proxy and not between customers. So the call was setted up fine but no audio on the phone.

you can log the rtp to see if you have the same issue.
