Hi,
I’ve got a slight problem here. I have a network setup (see attached image) where the MT is hosting the VPN connection for the VPN client. The client connects fine and can ping the resources of the network, but it cannot see any of them in the Network and Sharing center (Win7). I can navigate to the network resources via typing in the ip addresses, but names don’t give me any results i.e. typing in \192.168.2.1 in explorer will take me to the machine, but typing in \server yields no results. I’ve been doing a lot of research and it seems that a DNS server, WINS server, or playing with the HOSTS file would help this. I configured my server on the network to be a domain controller, DHCP, and DNS server and still nothing when the client connects. I put the server’s address into the MT’s DNS setting for DNS servers and still nothing. I’ve enabled proxy-arp on the ports (which I know worked because I could ping the resources) still nada. I know the DNS server is working and it is handing out IP addresses, so why can’t the remote client see anything in Network and Sharing center still? Is it because the remote client is on WORKGROUP (yet I’ve also read this isn’t a problem). I am beginning to think this is less of a MT problem and more of a windows problem, but I’ve heard of people taking two linksys wrt120’s with dd-wrt and establishing a secure vpn with that and they can see network resources no problem. If this isn’t a MT issue, could someone please point me in the direction of who I should ask for help next?
Thanks
