Hello,
I am trying to map out a solution for 7 VPN locations based on Mikrotik routers. This will go if approved to a certified consultant but in this early stage I am trying to see an approx price for the solution and present it to my manager. I am an IT sysadmin.
Implementation would be split in 2 phases: first 2 smaller locations + the Internet exit point and if all good the others(phase #2).
Locations are as follows:
Phase #1
Location 1: North Europe(1 country): few people
Location 2: East Europe(1 country): few people
Location 3: some colocation/hosting provider in North Europe(can be Sweden or Norway or Denmark) where I can put another 2 x routers(for redundancy in Active-Passive config or Active-Active) for the Internet single exit point/VPN
Phase #2
Location 4-5-6: North Europe(3 locations across Scandinavia): 170 people
Location 7: South Asia(India): 60 people
The single exit point will be Location #3 for all at the end.
Requirements are:
- VPN
- single internet exit point
- 2 x routers per location for redundancy in active-pasive configurations or active-active or active-backup
- leave some room for future expansion
Optional requirements(would be nice if possible):
- Traffic reports/URLs blocking → i.e. can block LinkedIn or other job boards, etc.
- can block bad categories of traffic
Speed required for users: I thought that around 100 MB up/down for location 1/2/3 would be enough. Bandwidth usage will be average, no excessive video or others.
For phase 2: I consider that 500 Mbps for locations 4/5/6/7 is enough. As for phase 2 completion location 3 which is the single internet exit point should support around 1.5-2 Gbps bandwidth up/down.
