I’m trying to set up a VPN between two remote Mikrotik boxes. I’ve followed the manual at http://www.mikrotik.com/testdocs/ros/2.9/interface/l2tp.php exactly, even matching my internal IP schemes to the examples to make it easier on myself. I’ve got the L2TP connection up and running - no problems there. The problem is with the routing. When I route one of the internal blocks, I’m able to ping internal IPs on the other end from the router itself, but I can’t ping them from any another machine behind the router. Am I missing something? Where should I look for help? Thanks.
Make sure you have configured static routing rules on both routers, check that ICMP and other data is not blocked by the firewall.
