VPN works but can't get past local interface

I have established a VPN (pptp) from my windows xp machine to a remote router (RB532) running 2.9.34. The VPN is established no problem. But I can only ping the Ethernet interface on the RB532, but can not see any of the other devices on this segment.

At present Im giving the VPN interface on the pc a fixed ip as I keep getting a dhcp error indicating that no address was assigned. The set up seem to be the same the last time I did this and had no problems with dhcp.

Any help would be great

Enable Proxy ARP on the local network interface

THANKS A LOT!

That did the trick, not totally clear on the why it is needed. Is it to in effect “bridge” the mac from the tunnel to the local network ? An explanation would be appreciated.

No just to solve the strange lack of dhcp!
