I have 5gbps fiber coming in about a month and my main router is an rb5009, so obviously my network will be capped at 2.5gbps. I have a pretty capable MS-01 running proxmox next to it that I want to put CHR on but since the device handles other duties and maybe rebooted once in a while, I thought I might be good to have some resilience in the network by having my rb5009 act as a backup. I’ve never used VRRP but I assume from what I’ve read that this can do the job. One question I have that I haven’t been able to find an answer to is this. Once you set up VRRP if you change a setting on one router, it doesn’t propagate to the other router automatically does it? So I would have to make all changes twice on each ROS to keep the configurations in sync?
Is there anything else I should know? Any other recommendations or thoughts?
